Werd, I'd rather spend the $35 for a license than the potential multi thousand dollar fine  :twocents:

Yea Im with you there.  Lost all my tackle and rods last year so i didnt think id be fishing this year at all.  Just went on a camping trip and my buddy caught 2 at the same time and handed the rod to me to reel in the one fish and a ranger was watching the whole show.  Cant even believe it.  First time i touch a poll all year and look what happens.

Anyone have any ideas on that fine though?

Fish with a license.

Same here. I'm scared to :pokinit: to fishing without a license. And I only see a F&G person like every other year.

I have no idea what the fine is. But I know you loose a lot of tackle, maybe even your car.

Anyone 16yrs and older has to have a license to touch a rod that has a line in the water.

Jim, get yourself a day license but if your going to fish more than 4 days, get the year license.

:dunno: in Vacaville, you can get fishing licenses at any sporting goods store, walmart, and longs drugs  dunno where else, but those are the ones I know of.

I've done it before when i was in college but I did a lot of dumb things then.   My state only charges $12.00 for resident fishing permits.  Thats not even worth the worry.  I spend that much on lunch every day.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

pretty stiff considering not to many year's ago you didn't need a license to fish at all. ... but like most have said... $35 is a small price to pay instead of the potential cost if you get caught without it.

16 yo or older and you've gotta have a license.

I treat fishing like drinking and driving, as strict as possible... if I drink a single beer I don't touch the wheel of a vehicle..

If I don't have a fishing license (yea it's happened a few times)  I don't touch a rod.

It's actually a bit more expensive now I believe, last year was $85 for me and my wife with a Bay Delta stamp.

I have heard of a couple thousand or more.  That may have been on the upper end, but if you get a chance to go in front of a judge maybe you can be real nice and plea it down :dunno:

I got busted without a license once on my buddies boat. The guy gave me a ticket but I never got anything in the mail saying I had to pay. So either he never turned it in or I have a warrant out for me  :conf:

Holy CRAP I'm glad I live in PA and I'm glad I don't fish!  hahaha.  Impounding your vehicle?  Multi-thousdand dollar fines?   That's ridiculous!  Are the fish filled with gold where you live?  Good lord!

In PA the law states that "casting or retrieving" a line constitues fishing and requires a license.  You can help a child under 16 without a license but you can only bait their line for them and take fish off really.  Fishing license here is only 22 bux.  Violating any fishing regulation is a citation, second offense is a $200 fine.

I've seen cases where you get a choice of either buying a life time fishing license or paying a fine equal to cost of a life time license.

The Ranger told me that it can be well over $1000.... I think a lot depends on if you have any fish in your posession and that'll probably tack on another $250 per fish or something like that.  Should be something that you can look up on the Department of Fish and Game website.....

box up EVERYTHING you own and give it over to the state...plus sign away your pay check and rights.  :yesnod:

I fish in many places in the states, and ya I may only use the license twice a year, but $50 a state is better the lossing everything I have plus my job. $100 to $200 a year to buy license is small change compared to the problems...beside If I'll drop $400 to $1000 for a fly rod at Bass Pro shop, or cabels I am not going to be hurt by paying for a license. Besides I have gear that has been passed down from the early 1900 and still play with it. If it does break one day, it broke doing what it was made for...NOT rotting apart if some courthouse locker some were.  :rivers:

Actually it's not that they have kids, it's that you can be a parent without taking at least one class on the subject.  One ECE or similar class should be mandatory.

note - this should be required as part of the college curriculum, IMO - instead of those cultural and ethnic studies classes.  Those are fine, but since 90%+ of students will eventually be parents, there's a slightly more important benefit to having everyone at least know these things.

note - instead of sex education classes in high school, which are mostly a waste of time, really, they should make it 1/4 sex education and 3/4 ECE type stuff.  As a bonus, the reality of what caring for a child entails might sober up a few of their hormones and get them to take birth control seriously.

As human beings we have screwed up the balance of earth. We need money to help keep animals around that would not be here anymore for the things we have done. Built dams, made lakes, destroyed rivers and streams. So buy not paying you arent supporting what you are doing and keeping it around for others in future generations.
